Considering a Microsoft cloud solution?
First let’s explain a ‘Tenant’:
A tenant is a representation of an organization. It’s a dedicated instance of Azure AD that an organization or app developer receives when the organization or app developer creates a relationship with Microsoft— like signing up for Azure, Microsoft Intune, or Microsoft 365.
Simply put a tenant is your environment when you sign up with Microsoft cloud services.
The very first thing we try to establish is your tenant name. This must of course be unique from everyone else. This name may not be all that relevant in the grand scheme but it is a good starting point.
If you have an existing ‘Domain’ – something you purchased from a company like GoDaddy – it should be in some recognized format like mycompany.com or mycompany.net etc. We configure your new tenant to support your domain which means now you will have your own email address space like firstname.lastname@example.org
Already have existing emails and data? Next we look at migration scenarios to move your data to the cloud.
